| short description | The Institute for Civilization and Culture is a thinktank, a non-governmental, non-profit, and non-partisan organization performing research and consultancy in the fields of civil society, culture, democracy, social science, and humanities. It was founded in 1997 as an independent research organization with the legal status of an independent institute for research, education, and counselling in social science and humanities. The Institute's research activities narrow down from the broad areas of civilization and culture to the social, civil, urban and cultural aspects of human existence (historical demographics; social stratification; migrations/transitional demographics; cultural policy, national-supernational, language issues, national education and science policies and their roles as constituting parts of the world development, social impact of new technologies and information society as such). With its expertise and working team, ICK has become an important thinktank in matters of media, cultural policies, democratic developments, transitions and EU integrations. |
