More specifically, on Saturday, 23 October, in Andreis an exercise on fire prevention was held with the following scenario: a hypothetical fire of malicious origin was activated in two distant points in the outskirts of the village of Andreis. The following forest stations were involved: Barcis, Claut, Maniago, Polcenigo and Pinzano al Tagliamento.

The exercise featured volunteers of local civil protection-fire prevention units from Andreis, Montereale Valcellina, Claut, Erto and Casso, Maniago, Frisanco, Aviano and il Distretto di Vito d’Asio, employees of the Forest Service and Forestry Corps of the Friuli-Venezia Giulia region an associated partner of the project, and two officers of the FVG Region Civil Protection participated.

The Provincial Fire Brigade, an associated partner, also participated with two commanders specifically trained for extinguishing forest fires who took on the role of observers.

During the exercise, various problems occurred that required the adoption of additional technical strategies.

After the debriefing, the participants reunited at lunch in Andreis and reiterated the importance of the moment of AGGREGATION and CONFRONTATION of all the staff who normally deals with forest firefighting; it is an important opportunity to meet people, necessary for the team spirit of all the elements of the complex machine for extinguishing forest fires.
