PRIMIS - The Multimedia Centre of the Narodni Dom, in Trieste

Narodni Dom was a Slovenian multifunctional centre built in 1904 in Trieste. Many Slovenian institutions were located here, including a theatre, a music school, the Slovenian mountaineering club, but also a bank, a hotel and much more. Rising fascism destroyed it with a fire in 1920. Today, the High School of Modern Languages for interpreters and translators of the University of Trieste is located there.

On the occasion of the hundredth anniversary of the fire, on 13 July 2020, the presidents of the Republics of Italy and Slovenia, Sergio Mattarella and Borut Pahor, visited Trieste and Narodni Dom. The centenary of the fire also represented an important occasion: with the signature of a memorandum, a partnership of local and national public bodies committed to returning the building to the Slovenian community.
