The last session of this year's National Forum of UNESCO Global Geoparks of Slovenia, organized by the newly elected national coordinator Bojan Ražun, is part of regular sessions held for the synchronized management of geoparks – Idrija UNESCO Global Geopark, Karavanke UNESCO Global Geopark and the emerging Geopark Kras-Carso in Slovenia. The session, which took place on December 18, 2024, at the premises of the Geological Survey of Slovenia, was attended by Matevž Novak from the Geological Survey of Slovenia and the International Geoscience and Geoparks Programme, Valerija Božič and Mojca Gorjup Kavčič from Idrija UNESCO Global Geopark, Suzana Fajmut Štrucl and Darja Komar from Karavanke UNESCO Global Geopark, Ana Hrast and Katja Fedrigo from the emerging Geopark Kras-Carso, Mojca Bedjanič from the Institute of the Republic of Slovenia for Nature Conservation (Zavod RS za varstvo narave) and Gašper Hrastelj, the Secretary-General of the Slovenian National Commission for UNESCO. The agenda included the evaluation of the past year, as well as the presentation of activities to be carried out in the coming year. The session also included a presentation of the activities carried out in the emerging cross-border Geopark Kras-Carso, the strategic project KRAS-CARSO II and efforts to integrate the geopark into the UNESCO Global Geoparks Network.
