The second joint cross-border event of the MEDS GARDEN+ project was entitled "On the Steps of Biodiversity through Social Inclusion" and took place on 13-6-2024 in the beautiful setting of the "Giardino del Chiostro" in Cividale del Friuli (UD).
More than 130 participants, from Italy and Slovenia, were able to experience first-hand the results of the first months of intensive work on the project.
The event opened in the evocative Monastery of St. George with the greetings of the authorities present (Municipality of Cividale del Friuli, Municipality of the City of Nova Gorica), the project partners, and the speeches of the Department of Mental Health of the ASU Friuli Centrale and the Biodiversity Service of the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region.
The overall project, strategies, pilot actions and types of activities for the animation of the MEDS GARDEN+ network of educational gardens were then illustrated to all the participants.
The event then moved outdoors for the inauguration of the new Mediterranean-themed didactic garden created as part of the project at the Giardino del Chiostro educational and social farm. A guided tour with experts and various learning stages was held.
In the specially prepared gazebos, the project partners KZ Agraria, the Municipality of Nova Gorica, Scuola Centrale Formazione with its member institutions CIVIFORM and FOSF, Giardino del Chiostro with its associated partner (ALPI-OdV Association), and the network of educational and social farms in Friuli, offered information on the activities carried out and some thematic educational workshops.
The great finale of the event was a buffet designed, prepared and served by CIVIFORM students and their teachers, inspired by the biodiversity of kitchen garden products and wild herbs.
