The lead partner of the project - ORA Krasa in Brkinov d.o.o. in cooperation with the Društvo turističnih vodnikov Krasa in Brkinov (Association of Tourist Guides of the Karst and Brkini Region) organised a professional excursion to the Karavanke Geopark. The purpose of the visit was to get acquainted with some of the most interesting points of the cross-border Karavanke Geopark, and above all to get acquainted with the organisation and practical implementation of the guide service in the Geopark.
During the excursion, which took place on Tuesday, 16.4.2024, we visited the Lead and Zinc Mine in Mežice and were served local delicacies at the Karavanke Geopark Information Centre. The second part of the meeting was a presentation of the Karavanke Geopark, followed by a round table with the Geopark management. Due to the weather conditions, we were greeted by snow after arriving from the Peca underground, we had to adjust the programme. At the end of the excursion, we visited the mineral collection in Dravograd in the Bukovje Manor.
The excursion was attended, in addition to the partners of the KRAS-CARSO II project and the members of the Društvo turističnih vodnikov Krasa in Brkinov (Association of Tourist Guides of the Karst and Brkini Region), by members of the Association of Italian Guides - AIGAE Associazione Italiana Guide Ambientali Escursionistiche and members of the Association of Natural Guides - Guide Naturalistiche in Friuli Venezia Giulia.
