The Interreg VI-A Italy-Slovenia Programme 2021-2027 hosted the first meetings with a delegation of the European Commission to organise in cooperation with EGTC GO the Interreg Annual Event in the year 2025. This event is a not-to-be-missed occasion, as the participants will include delegations from Interreg Programmes from all over Europe, who will be able to admire at first hand the excellent results that the Interreg Italy-Slovenia Programme has achieved on the territory in almost 25 years of activity. Best practices of cross-border cooperation experienced by the same guest programmes in other parts of Europe will also be presented.
Between 18 December and 20 December, the delegation headed by Slawomir Tokarski, director of the Directorate General Regio of the European Community, met in order the Slovenian ministers Matej Arčon (Minister for Autochthonous Slovenian National Community in Neighbouring Countries, and between the Republic of Slovenia and Slovenians Abroad), Aleksander Jevšek (Minister for Cohesion and Regional Development), FVG Regional Councillor for Finance Barbara Zilli (video), the mayors of Nova Gorica Samo Turel, of Šempeter-Vrtojba Milan Turk and of Gorizia Rodolfo Ziberna as well as the EGTC GO. During all the meetings the Commission delegation was accompanied by the Managing Authority of the Interreg Italy-Slovenia Programme and the Joint Secretariat.
The parties have identified Gorizia and Nova Gorica as the ideal location for the event. In this way, the Interreg Annual Event will become one of the leading events of the year 2025 in addition to the European Capital of Culture.
For the Italy-Slovenia Interreg Programme together with the EGTC GO and the numerous funded projects, a stimulating challenge begins to promote culture and excellence in the area in the best possible way.
