Four doctors from Izola General Hospital attended the Advanced Life Support (ALS) Course by the European Resuscitation Council (ERC) on 19 and 20 November 2024 in Ljubljana.
Based on standardised European guidelines, the ALS course is designed for healthcare professionals involved in the care of critically ill patients and those experiencing cardiac arrest. Attendees develop essential knowledge and skills for recognising patients in danger of cardiac arrest, as well as managing cardiac arrest and problems encountered after initial resuscitation. The curriculum also emphasizes the development of non-technical skills, such as effective team leadership and collaboration in emergency situations, which are essential for ensuring high-quality care.
During the course, participants engaged in practical workshops focused on key topics, such as airway management, rhythm recognition and management, safe defibrillation, and the structured ABCDE approach, culminating in simulations of cardiac arrest scenarios. These were highly valuable for consolidating acquired knowledge and preparing for real clinical challenges.
All four Izola General Hospital employees successfully completed the course. Congratulations!
Participation in the course was made possible with funding from the AidMIRE project.
