From November 13th to 15th, 2024, Budapest hosted the "Art of Cooperation" (ARTCO) conference, an official event of the Hungarian EU Presidency. The conference focused on the issues and future of European Cooperation Programs, involving personalities from the various Interreg Programs, researchers and regional development experts.
During the event, the head of the Managing Authority of the Interreg VI-A Italy-Slovenia Programme Laura Comelli and the head of the Joint Secretariat of the Programme Aljoša Sosol, together with the regional councillor for Finances of the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region Barbara Zilli, attended the discussions on the future allocation of resources for the post-2027 period and the legal framework that will regulate this process.
The event began with award ceremonies for professionals who have distinguished themselves in cross-border cooperation. The second day saw a wide range of activities, with parallel workshops covering topics such as the identity of the Interreg Programme, EU enlargement and EU funding of regions, analysing the economic impact on territories and their inhabitants. The day ended with the presentation of the Declaration on the future of Interreg ‘Interreg 35 Declaration’, which highlights the importance and future existence of Interreg in promoting European valuer through cross-border, transnational, and interregional cooperation.
With this programme, ARTCO 2024 aims to strengthen the cohesion of territories on the EU's borders by promoting increasingly impactful and effective Interreg programmes.
