With a variegated event that took place in the House of Tartini on 8th April, the celebrations of the anniversary of the birth of Giuseppe Tartini began, just where the great citizen of Piran first saw the light of day 332 years ago. The famous violinist, composer, music pedagogue, scholar, and enlightened man was honored by the partners of the Interreg Italy-Slovenia project TARTINI BIS, which aims to strengthen the influences and synergies of cultural tourism in the namev of the Maestro of the Nations.
On behalf of the organizer of the event, the Municipality of Piran, Mayor Andrej Korenika addressed the attendees: "I am honored to welcome you on the anniversary of Tartini’s birth in his birth house, whose historically important premises were made possible by the previous Interreg project Italy-Slovenia, named tARTini. In order to valorize Tartini's heritage, the municipality joined this new project last year. We have joined forces with exceptional partners who have proven to be excellent connoisseurs and guardians of Tartini's heritage in the past. At the same time, we have formed new partnerships through which we further upgrade and spread knowledge about the Maestro of the Nations. The municipality must ensure that the memory of Giuseppe Tartini is preserved, expanded and enriched, while at the same time it must participate in the evaluation and preservation of its heritage, thus persistently building a cultural-tourist bridge in the cross-border area where we are located” said the leader of the Municipality of Piran. The guests were also addressed by Fulvia Zudič, President of the Italian Community Giuseppe Tartini from Piran, Francesco Gabrielli, Administrative Director of the Conservatory of Music Giuseppe Tartini from Trieste, who is the lead partner of the TARTINI BIS project, and Stane Baluh from the Government Office for National Minorities of the Republic of Slovenia, who pointed out in his speech that Tartini and his School of Nations embodied the European spirit already at that time.
As part of the commemoration of the anniversary of Tartini’s birth, the partners of TARTINI BIS presented the project to the public for the first time. It envisages the digitization of the heritage of the Maestro of the Nations and his students, which will further enrich the already extensive collection of musical, scientific and historical records, which is available to everyone on the website www.discovertartini.eu. In addition, the Tartini Route, which has proven to have great tourism potential, will be further developed. Attention will also be paid to the musical education of young people, as well as to the spread of Tartini's music through the cycle of cross-border music events.
The audience had the opportunity to hear some of Tartini's songs already at this event. Professors and students of the Conservatory of Music Giuseppe Tartini from Trieste, Manuel Tomadin, Manuel Staropoli, Giovanni Zordan, Noela Ontani and Emanuele Ruzzier enriched the event with a brief concert.
The event concluded with the presentation of an incredibly special product, namely a wine whose taste was changed by Giuseppe Tartini’s music. The wine is called Refosco Tartini 330 – Re maggiore and is the result of cooperation between the Municipality of Piran, the wine cellar Vinakoper and the Piran Coastal Galleries. Created as part of the Tartini 330: Sound experience by Sara project, it was conceived by Sara Pfeifer Milčinović.
