Last Thursday, an underwater cleaning action took place at the Debeli Rtič beach as part of the Poseidon project, which is part of the Interreg VI-A Italy-Slovenia 2021-2027 programme.
The action brought together the Debeli Rtič Landscape Park Nature Conservation Officer and the association PLK Koper (Divers from the Port of Koper).
Six divers, divided into two groups, searched and cleaned the seabed in the area of the Debeli Rtič swimming pool. They were somewhat surprised to find little rubbish in the sea.
They found some large pieces (buoys, ropes, metal rods), various fishing gear (fishing lines, lead weights, artificial bait) and some other waste, including an electronic cigarette, which is hazardous waste because it contains a battery.
