As part of the POSEIDONE project, Interreg Italy-Slovenia cooperation programme, the Mediterranean Institute for Environmental Studies of the Science and Research Centre Koper has prepared a video about the Rižana River and the ecosystem services that this river and its ecosystems provide to local communities.
The video aims to raise awareness among the general public about the importance of the ecosystem services of the Rižana River for all living beings, including humans. It also describes the results of the report on ecosystem services of ecosystems that the Rižana has so uniquely characterised.
Although this river is primarily known as a source of drinking water, it provides many other important regulating and maintenance and cultural ecosystem services that are essential for human well-being. In order to preserve the benefits that these services provide to the population, sustainable management, protection and valorisation of these ecosystems are particularly important.
