On 7 November 2024, the Cultural Center in Postojna hosted a musical-literary evening titled A vortex named Vilhar which offering the audience an overview of the rich literary and musical opus of Miroslav Vilhar. A composer, writer, journalist, and politician, Vilhar is regarded as one of the most versatile Slovenian personalities of the 19th century and beyond. The event was organized in collaboration with the Municipality of Postojna by the Regional Development Agency Zeleni Kras, which in the framework of the TARTINI BIS project, benefits from the results of the tARTini project implemented under the Interreg Italy-Slovenia Program in the 2014–2020 programming period. The event’s script was written by comparative literature expert and cultural heritage interpreter Andrej Rijavec, while baritone Jure Počkaj and his guests lead the performance.
The audience enjoyed a selection of Vilhar's songs, such as Lipa zelenela je, Po jezeru, and Zagorski zvonovi, which have become popular folk songs embraced by the people. His compositions are characterized by simple, melodic lines that are accessible to a wider audience and draw inspiration from folk music motifs. Through his work, Vilhar made a significant contribution to the preservation and development of the Slovenian language, culture, and music, leaving an important mark on the national spirit.
The event’s script was written by comparativist and cultural heritage interpreter Andrej Rijavec, while the performance was led by baritone Jure Počkaj with pianist Snježana Pleše Žagar, trumpeter Jon An Herlič, violinist Karin Doles, cellist Tadeja Žele, accordionist Kristijan Arh, and the vocal group Goldinar, directed by Ana Celin Lenarčič. The musical program was accompanied by a narrative on the life and work of Miroslav Vilhar, delivered by actress Marijana Brecelj.
