The KAŠTellieri project aims to promote cultural heritage and cross-border tourism derived from the castellieri (known as “kaštelirji” in Slovenian), fortified settlements in the area that extends from the Kvarner Gulf, through Istria, Čičarija, Brkini, Karst, and up to Venezia Giulia.
The project seeks to revitalize and interpret the selected castellieri through innovative and digitized products offered by the creative industries, and to channel tourist flows from coastal areas to rural and peri-urban areas, encouraging more sustainable tourism.
The KAŠTellieri project is co-financed by the European Union under the Interreg VI-A Italy-Slovenia Programme.
