Kras-Carso Cross-Border Geopark Week invites you to explore the Karst region without limits

Discover the secrets of the Karst underground, take a walk in the Karst glade, get to know the exceptional natural and cultural heritage, people and life in the Karst. Experience the emerging cross-border geopark during the Karst-Carso Cross-border Geopark Week from 25 May to 9 June. In the framework of the KRAS-CARSO II project, a number of free cross-border events will take place during this time, linking the whole of the Karst region of origin.

The Regional Development Agency ORA Krasa in Brkinov in cooperation with the partners of the KRAS-CARSO II project is once again organising the Karst-Carso Cross-Border Geopark Week, which brings together lovers of the Karst region, natural and cultural heritage, geology and active leisure activities with a number of free events. This year, visitors can enjoy more than 20 free events highlighting the key features of life in the cross-border area of the Karst Mother Karst. Through guided tours, underground treasure hunts, cycling tours, hikes, geological walks and a variety of workshops, visitors will get to know the area where the cross-border Karst-Carso Geopark is being created.

The week of the Kras-Carso cross-border geopark starts on Saturday, 25 May, with geocaching in Slivje and in the Dimnice Cave, cycling In the heart of the land of Teran and a guided hike along the Kosovel Trail with a visit to the Kosovel Homestead. On Sunday, 26 May, there will be a geoscoping tour in Carsiana: a walk through the caves, a visit to the Vilenica cave, and on Monday, 27 May, we will go on a guided tour of the Lipica quarry. On Wednesday, 29 May, you are invited to a hike through the Lipica estate and an interesting discovery of the dinosaurs of the Karst. On Friday, 31 May, don't miss a guided tour of the First World War Karst caves in Temnice, and Saturday, 1 June, will be marked by the events Let's meet in the gardens: the Ferrari Garden, Pepa's Karst Garden and the Sežana Botanical Garden, as well as a guided tour of the Divaška Cave with a music quiz. We will celebrate Sunday, 2 June, with Geokoraki on the Rilke Walking Trail. On Wednesday, 5 June, the Škocjan Caves Park invites you to a bike trip entitled Where the River Begins to Sink, and in Trieste there will be a book presentation on archaeological caves. During the week of the Kras-Carso cross-border Geopark, you can learn dry stone walling at the Living Museum of the Karst on Friday 7 June, and on Saturday 8 June, there are two events: a children's geocaching event in Orlek and an ice factory tour in the Glinščice valley.

In addition to all the events aimed at visitors, Kras-Carso Cross-Border Geopark Week will also include a number of workshops for primary school children in Slovenian and Italian schools, professional training and research activities.
