As part of the ENGREEN 2 project we raise awareness and educate about green infrastructure. In the project area, among the green infrastructure are karstic ponds, ice houses and dry walls, which were created due to the adaptation of the surface to the use of the space. Today, these elements are decaying and disappearing, but by restoring them we are trying to preserve cultural heritage and biodiversity.
Ć kocjan caves Park, Slovenia, recently showed elementary school students what green infrastructure is and why it is important in our area. Students learned about the diversity of life found in ponds and dry walls. They also got to know more about the formation of ponds, as they recreated these habitats with the help of modelling clay.
