This year, colleagues from the National Institute of Biology presented the BEE2GETHER project at various events in Ljubljana.
On World Bee Day (May 20, 2024) and International Day of Biodiversity (May 22, 2024), the project was presented at a stand in the city center of Ljubljana. They highlighted the importance, diversity, threats, and conservation of pollinators and explained how the project monitors environment using nesting boxes for solitary bees. The stand attracted several hundred visitors.
The project was also presented during Fascination of Plants Day (May 24, 2024), an annual event held at the National Institute of Biology that draws more than a thousand students from across Slovenia. One of the stands was dedicated to pollinators, where children learned about their lives and how to support them.
At the end, they had the opportunity to create a simple nesting box for solitary bees to take home. A total of 343 children participated in the workshop.
At the end of September, the project was also presented during an open house day. The presentation of pollinators and the BEE2GETHER project was attended by 123 high school students.
