WWF Miramare Marine Protected Area brings the ITA-SLO VI-A Interreg Project POSEIDONE "on horseback" in the Trieste Karst to meet the children of the ASD Equilandia Onlus summer camps to help them discover the great wealth of life that lurks above and below our sea, through the captivating stories of the "Underwater intrigues" puzzle-game.
The adventures of European shag, terns, fish, molluscs and sea turtles living along the Trieste coastline will be a pretext for getting to know "more closely" the vital world of the extensive mussel farms, which, although created by man, are important hotspots of marine and bird biodiversity, monitored by the MPA experts.
These activities about sealife in the Karst represent a good opportunity to explain to children the importance of knowing and protecting all habitats and animal and plant species, both marine and terrestrial, because everything is interconnected and our actions must be responsible, as is taught to children at the summer camps who take care of the animals at Equilandia Centre, in the shared perspective of knowledge and the wellbeing of people and animals.
