Between the 7 and 10 October 7 2024, in Brussels took place the traditional European Week of Regions and Cities, the largest annual event dedicated to cohesion policy. This year, the Interreg VI-A Italy-Slovenia Programme actively participated once again, joining forces with colleagues from the Interreg Italy-Croatia Programme to organize a workshop titled CROssingITA-SLOwly. The event was held on the 9 October 2024, at the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region office in Brussels.
The main goal of the workshop was to create synergies between various Interreg projects and programmes, focusing on the theme of slow and sustainable tourism in the cross-border area of Croatia, Italy, and Slovenia. The event was further enriched by the presence of a distinguished guest, Slawomir Tokarski, representing the European Commission as Director of the Directorate-General DG Regio.
The workshop addressed key topics, including the enhancement of the uniqueness of each territory, the preservation of cultural heritage, nature conservation, sustainable mobility, and accessible tourism, which are central to all 17 projects involved in the initiative.
The TARTINI BIS project, represented by Kris Dassena, project coordinator from the Municipality of Piran, was included in the working group dedicated to cultural heritage. This group also featured projects BeWop, WALKofPEACE+, KAŠTellieri, REEL, ARCHEODIGIT and SITE.
Participants worked to identify commonalities and opportunities for collaboration to strengthen cooperation and networking among the various partners and projects, contributing to the effective integration of diverse initiatives.
