On May 29, 2024, the WABIN project, Interreg Italy-Slovenia, participated in the EU Green Week in the session "Toward a Water Resilient Europe" alongside other Interreg projects at the Interact stand. EU Green Week is an annual opportunity to raise awareness, promote, and discuss European environmental policy. Organized by the Directorate-General for Environment of the European Commission, this edition held in Brussels highlighted the necessary actions to make the EU more water-resilient, today and tomorrow. EU Green Week 2024 is part of the #WaterWiseEU campaign, which aims to stimulate an EU-wide conversation around water. The focus on water resilience addressed during Green Week aligns with one of the specific objectives of Interreg projects, namely the development of solutions for sustainable water management.
The Interreg stand during EU Green Week 2024 showcased the work of Interreg Programs in PO2, demonstrating the integrated territorial dimension of the projects and the concrete results achieved. The WABIN project is among these and fits perfectly into the conference theme: it is a plan that integrates hydrogeological basin methodologies and water balance forecast models to promote sustainable water management, addressing climate change adaptation and water resource inefficiencies. The WABIN project is set to start, with the kick-off scheduled for July 2024. Among the partners: University of Ljubljana, OGS, Clera. One, and Wigwam Clubs Italia APS.
