Project Be Blue started in 2024 with full momentum, as they will hold three partner meetings in January:
- On January 17, 2024, a partner training on participatory processes in Trieste, organized by Shoreline.
- On January 18, 2024, the recording of a virtual tour on aquaponics, a video and photo day for Slovenian partners at the University of Ljubljana, Faculty of Biotechnology, Department of Agronomy.
- On January 31, 2024, the Steering Committee of the project, which will review the activities carried out in Period 1 and approve the work plan for the future.
Partner training, January 17, 2024
On 17 January 2024, at PP4, Shoreline Soc. Coop. in Trieste, there took place a training day on participatory processes, exclusively dedicated to the partners of the BeBlue project. During this meeting, the participants explored in detail the issues related to the management, methodology and aim of participatory processes. Therefore, they got an understanding of the importance of participation to strengthen the network in the aquaponics sector. In addition, the mutual meeting and the activities of that day provided an understanding of the contribution that the partners can provide beside the facilitators in the 7 working groups and 2 forums planned in the project. For further enrichment, the partners were also invited to simulate a participatory process using some of the previously discussed methodologies, such as Brainstorming, Metaplan clustering and the World Café.

Virtual Tour on Aquaponics, January 18, 2024
Project Be Blue has embarked on a virtual exploration of aquaponics! Experts from three Slovenian partners - KZ Agararia Koper, University of Ljubljana (Biotechnical Faculty, Department of Agronomy), and the Agricultural and Forestry Chamber of Slovenia - Kranj Institute have prepared a virtual library of knowledge about aquaponics.
For those of you eager to delve into the aquaponics, we've recorded a virtual tour of the aquaponics world and created several short videos that answer the most common questions about aquaponics: What is aquaponics? How does aquaponics work? What are the advantages of aquaponics? What are the key components of an aquaponics system? What types of fish can be used in an aquaponics system? Which plants are most suitable? What water quality parameters need to be monitored in aquaponics? ... and many more questions!
Join us, explore the world of aquaponics with us, and make the most of valuable knowledge and advice from our experts. Don't miss the opportunity to enrich your knowledge about sustainable farming!

Steering Comittee Venice, January 31, 2024
The partners of the Be Blue project will meet at the Steering Committee coordination meeting, which will take place on January 31, 2024, at the lead partner's location at the University of Venice. During this meeting, they will review and assess the activities carried out in the first period and approve the work plan for future activities. This presents an important opportunity for coordination and direction of the project, as partners will collectively discuss the next steps and goals of the Be Blue project, which aims to facilitate the exchange of experiences and promote aquaponics as an example of sustainable food production in the cross-border area between Slovenia and Italy.
