On Tuesday, April 8, 2025, the Aquaponic Day – Innovative Agriculture event will take place at the Biotechnical Faculty of the University of Ljubljana, organized by the partners of the BeBlue project, co-financed under the Interreg VI-A Italy–Slovenia Cross-Border Cooperation Programme. The event will focus on modern and sustainable approaches to food production through aquaponics – a system that integrates plant cultivation and fish farming.
The program will start at 9:30 with participant registration, followed at 10:00 by the welcome speech and the presentation of the BeBlue project. The morning will be dedicated to technical presentations:
• Mitja Kadoič (KGZS – Zavod Kranj) will present aquaponics as an opportunity for innovative agriculture.
• Janja Rudolf, a researcher from the Biotechnical Faculty, will talk about the selection of the most promising products and market analysis.
• Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ana Slatnar (Biotechnical Faculty) will present tests of new products – microgreens and the use of nanotechnology.
• This will be followed by the presentation of a good practice example from the Pomona tourist farm.
After a coffee break, a guided tour of the aquaponic system with a live demonstration will take place, led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ana Slatnar and Miha Štular (KGZS – Zavod Kranj).
