The activity, which lasted from August 22 to 24, led to the recovery of around 250 kilograms of waste, allowing 70% of the “Area 3” of the site to be cleaned.
The Technical Diving Operators worked in 2 teams of 2 divers each, at a maximum operational depth of 23 meters, collecting fishing gear, cables, ropes, tires, as well as clothing and packaging materials.
These are just a few of the types of waste recovered - not always easy to date and sometimes of dubious origin - during the three days operation dedicated to cleaning the seabed of the Tegnùe di Chioggia, an operation that was carried out by applying the “HANDS ON MANUAL FOR FISHING GEARS REMOVAL” protocol, removing only waste whose removal would not have jeopardized the existing biocenosis and/or endemic species, or those included in the European protection lists and located in the vicinity of the waste itself.
