The partners' meeting of the Interreg Italy-Slovenia E-Nat2Care project, held in Resia at the headquarters of the Julian Pre-Alps Nature Park on January 24, 2024, was successfully concluded. The meeting was an important opportunity to carry out a detailed review of project management and explain the activities carried out and planned with regard to the project's two key themes:
- Pilot measures for biodiversity conservation of the Natura2000 Network in the cross-border area of the Julian Alps and Karst. This includes innovative strategies for sustainable management of natural resources and protection of vulnerable species through monitoring activities that will focus particularly on the Ural Owl and Rosalia alpina.
- Improvement of Ecosystem Services in the same area. In particular, work will be done to communicate to stakeholders the importance of ecosystem services-primarily water quality-with the aim of getting people to understand the close connection between users and managers of natural services.
This first meeting allowed the partners to discuss the activities carried out in this first project period and to align on the next goals to be achieved with the next planned activities, which will be discussed at the next meeting, scheduled for the end of February
The E-Nat2Care project represents a significant step toward safeguarding the ecosystems of the Julian Alps and Karst. As partners in the project, all stakeholders (Slovenian National Institute of Biology, Julian Pre-Alps Nature Park Authority, San Canziano Caves Park, and the Universities of Primorska and Udine) are committed to the promotion of environmental sustainability and conservation and recognize cross-border collaboration as an essential tool for achieving the set goals. Joint efforts and a common vision are critical to the success of this initiative and to the future of our territories.
