As the lead partner of the KARST-SAFE project, we participated in the final event of the IN4SAFETY project on October 17, 2025. We listened to presentations on the protection and rescue measures implemented in the other seven projects and presented examples of our own results achieved within the KARST-SAFE project.
We highlighted in particular the importance of preventive fire protection measures, which we implemented by establishing 183 hectares of new grazing areas or expanding existing ones in the municipalities of Sežana, Komen, Duino-Aurisina, and Repentabor. In addition, firefighters from Sežana and Nova Gorica acquired new equipment that will enable them to respond more effectively to future natural disasters.
A particularly strong impression on the visitors was made by the preparation, execution, and results of the cross-border IN4SAFETY exercise, which involved the Civil Protection Service, volunteer organizations, and local authorities.
On the second day of the event, the IN4SAFETY Protection and Rescue Fair took place, featuring an exhibition of firefighting and civil protection vehicles and equipment. A large number of cross-border vehicles were displayed, along with as many as 250 exhibitors and teams. Among them, we represented the KARST-SAFE project on behalf of all partners. Throughout the day, demonstrations by members of the Civil Protection Service and firefighters were carried out.
