The second partners' meeting of the Interreg Italy-Slovenia Waste Design 2.0 project was held on February 13th at the Municipality of Nova Gorica.
Commencing with a comprehensive overview of activities categorized by work packages and the corresponding commitments, project partners provided a recap of what has been done so far, as well as how they will proceed with the upcoming activities based on the timeline. Attention was also devoted to the technical project management requirements, with a particular emphasis on reporting protocols.
The meeting continued with a visit to the Central water treatment plant Nova Gorica, which is located in Vrtojba. Project partners were afforded a detailed presentation of the entire technological process involved in wastewater treatment. The treatment plant processes wastewater from Sveta Gora, Grgar, Solkan, Nova Gorica, Rožna Dolina, Šempeter, Vrtojba, and Miren, boasting a capacity of 50,500 population units equivalent. Renowned for its cutting-edge treatment technology, the central wastewater treatment plant exemplifies one of Europe's most modern facilities of its kind. Financed in part by EU cohesion funds, its construction serves as an example of best practices for municipal waste management, pollution mitigation, and the overall improvement of citizen living standards.
