On Tuesday 27 August 2024, the third GRENNAT partnership meeting took place at Rihemberk Castle. The meeting was attended by all project partners, led by the lead partner, the Municipality of Nova Gorica: the Municipality of Ajdovščina, the Municipality of Miren-Kostanjevica, the Venezia Giulia Land Reclamation Board, the Veneto Orientale Land Reclamation Board and the Municipality of Monfalcone.
The meeting took place at the premises of the Natura 2000 Info Point at Rihemberk Castle, which was a result of the Grevislin project. The capitalisation also includes the upgrades of the Natura 2000 info point in order to improve conditions for local bat species. In the pleasant surroundings of the castle and under the good impressions of the successfully implemented Natura 2000 Conference the partners discussed the current state of art of the project. We reviewed each individual project activity and presented its progress, what has been done in the first and second reporting period, with the end of the latter in August 2024. Most of the project activities are well underway, most public procurements have been already successfully carried out and the disbursement of funds is proceeding smoothly.
The activities that are being currently implemented are the preparation of the expert basis for the renovations, the plans for the establishment of thematic educational trails, the activities related to the upgrading of the fish paths, the monitoring of the fish fauna, the establishment of a water level station, the introduction of a multimedia information space, the activities of communication with the target groups, the activities for the establishment of fixed monitoring stations for surface water and groundwater monitoring stations, the development of an application for irrigation management and rationalisation of water resources in irrigation areas, the preparation of conceptual designs for planting and for the organisation of targeted and sustainable visits to protected areas, management and planting plan for the Soča River area, preparation of an implementation and planting plan, and much more.
The meeting was also successfully concluded with a clear implementation timeline and schedule for the next steps and activities of the GRENNAT project in the coming autumn months.
