The project
Project summary

Policy objective: PO4 - A more social and inclusive Europe implementing the European Pillar of Social Rights

Specific objective: SO 6 - enhancing the role of culture and sustainable tourism in economic development, social inclusion and social innovation

Typology: Standard project

The project addresses the following challenges for tourism, cultural and culinary operators in the cross-border area:

- Low capacity to use creative innovative approaches,

 - poor knowledge and use of digital and green technologies,

- lack of knowledge and skills of local rural providers for sustainable development,

 - lack of action plans for linking cross-border providers,

 - lack of an integrated offer including all cross-border actors active in the creation of tourism and cultural content.

The project is innovative in terms of content and implementation. It brings a modern approach to addressing the challenges of specific target groups, introducing creative thinking and new skills that will contribute to increasing innovation capacity. Knowledge will be acquired by representatives of the cultural and tourism sectors and employees of the public partner organisations, and will be retained in the regions. The project will improve the creative and innovative capacities of local providers and communities for sustainable development in the cross-border area.

Objectives
  • The project BEST will increase the capacity of local providers to develop solutions that will contribute to an innovative, digital and green transition.
  • We will train local providers and raise their innovative and entrepreneurial competences.
  • We will prepare a strategic document for the creation of a cross-border innovation, creativity and networking pathway.
  • We will create a route linking tourist and cultural facilities in the cross-border area. The route will contribute to the visibility of the area and its providers among the local population and people living further afield in Slovenia and Italy.
Output

The project methodology starts with an analysis of the level of readiness and the needs of key stakeholders on both sides of the border. Providers are fragmented and lack a common cross-border destination and visibility. Accordingly, we will build on the Innovation Catalyst methodology and implement training and education programmes. All knowledge and guidance will be compiled in an action plan that will serve as a basis for the creation of innovation, creativity and networking pathways. The project will thus create the basis for the creation of a cross-border innovative destination that can offer visitors an innovative tourist experience and cultural experience.
