The IRRIGAVIT project is analyzing experimental wines and studying the effects of irrigation and soil management on wine quality. These analyses, both chemical and sensory, are being conducted at the Kmetijski Inštitut Slovenije (KIS) laboratory in Ljubljana. KIS has advanced its capabilities with high-tech equipment funded by the Interreg Italy-Slovenia Program, enabling the study of grape and wine metabolites and phenolic profiles. The laboratory is ISO17025-accredited.
Initial sensory evaluations were performed on January 8, 2025, for the Pinela variety, involving researchers and students from the University of Nova Gorica (UNNG). Final tastings of 2024 wines will occur in April-May 2025 in Slovenia and Italy.
Meanwhile, project coordinator Paolo Sivilotti met with Cristian Specogna at the experimental vineyard in Corno di Rosazzo to discuss hydrological study results from the Rocca Bernarda vineyard. Updates on related work by the University Ca’Foscari (Venice), University of Udine, and University of Trieste teams will follow.
