Analyses and evaluations of the experimental wines of the IRRIGAVIT project, as well as the effects of irrigation and soil management on wine quality, are ongoing.
The quality analyses of all wines produced in the cross-border trials are conducted at the Kmetijski Inštitut Slovenije -KIS laboratories in Ljubljana. The wines are analysed from both chemical and sensory perspectives. The laboratory, supported also by European funds from the Interreg Italy-Slovenia Program, has installed new high-tech analytical equipment for the determination of grape and wine metabolites (UHPLC-MS/MS) and developed an analytical method for determining primary metabolites and terpenes in grapes, foliage, and wine (GC-MS), as well as a phenolic profile in grapes, wine, and foliage (LC-MS), to monitor the quality of grapes and wines from experiments conducted in demonstration vineyards in Slovenia and Italy. KIS operates an ISO17025-accredited laboratory.
After stabilization, the wine is bottled and subjected to chemical and sensory evaluation. The first sensory analyses were carried out by colleagues Klemen Lisjak and Andreja Vanzo on January 8, 2025, on variety Pinela in collaboration with some students from the Associated Partner University of Nova Gorica - UNNG. The final tastings of the wines produced in 2024 with the panel of tasters will take place between April and May 2025 in both countries.
While the wine evalutaions were taking place in Slovenia, project coordinator Paolo Sivilotti met with Cristian Specogna to evaluate the wine produced at the experimental vineyard in Corno di Rosazzo. During the meeting, he presented him with the first results of the analyses related to the study on the hydrological cycle conducted in the Specogna company vineyard in Rocca Bernarda during 2024.
In the photo gallery of the website, we show you the analyses. Keep following us: we will tell you about the work carried out in 2024 by the University Ca’Foscari from Venice - UNIVE, the University of Udine - UNIUD and the University of Trieste- UNITS teams on that subject!
