As part of the Interreg Italy-Slovenia IRRIGAVIT project we organized the first two tastings of experimental wines. The first was organized on 19 March 2024 in the splendid Tasting Academy room of Villa Nachini Cabassi in Corno di Rosazzo (Italy) and it involved a panel of winetasters that represented the project's focus target groups (enologists, partner representatives, representatives of associated partners, producers). For the tasting, which involved 19 participants, an ad hoc sensory evaluation sheet was developed by the prof. Paolo Sivilotti of the University of Udine, who also conducted the presentation. Samples of wines of the Pinot Grigio variety produced in 2022 as part of the Acquavitis project were tasted. The organization of the tasting was entrusted to Mariano Paladin, director of the Consortium for the Protection of Friuli Colli Orientali and Ramandolo wines, and his team of collaborators.
On April 25th, the second wine tasting was held at Izletniška kmetija Baša in Dornberk (Slovenia) as part of the meeting of the "Vipava Valley Winegrowers Consortium". The tasting was organized by the team from Kmetijski Inštitut Slovenije (KIS) and presented by the researchers Klemen Lisjak, Andreja Vanzo and Dejan Bavčar. The tasting involved a panel of 9 winetasters: wine producers who tasted 6 Merlot variety wines that were produced in the vineyards where water stress tests were carried out during the Acquavits project (3 from the valley bottom area, 3 from the hilly terraced area). The next evaluations will be in 2025 on the vintages produced in the new experimental areas in 2024.
