As part of the X-BRAIN.net project, Interreg VI-A Italy-Slovenia 2021-2027 Programme, on Friday, October 18, 2024, Izola General Hospital in cooperation with the Science and Research Centre Koper held the "Open Day: Presentation of Izola General Hospital's Active Room".
The event was coordinated by doc. dr. Bojan Rojc, dr. med., spec., who presented the content and goals of the X-BRAIN.net project, after an opening greeting by SB Izola’s medical director, Tomaž Gantar, dr. med., spec. Neurologist Borna Vudrag highlighted the basic facts about stroke. Scientific associate of ZRS Koper, doc. dr. Luka Šlosar, presented innovative information and communication technologies that are used in the Active Room at Izola General Hospital. Physiotherapists Anja Gjörek and Nataša Vatovec summarized the physiotherapeutic aspect of treating a patient after a stroke.
This was followed by activities in the Active Room of the Neurology Department and in the Physiotherapy facilities of Izola General Hospital, where the participants of the event were able to try out the aids and modern devices used for the rehabilitation of patients after a stroke.
Izola General Hospital purchased the equipment for the Active Rooms with the financial resources of the X-BRAIN.net project:
- "Dividat Senso" cognitive-motor training system,
- virtual reality system with 3D motion detection - "Nintendo Switch" console with the sports game "Ring Fit Adventure",
- "Oculus Quest II" virtual reality glasses,
- two ultrasound machines,
- aids for effective physiotherapeutic treatment of neurological patients, proprioceptive exercise and muscle strengthening (for example, "Bobath" electrical therapy table, "MOTOmed Loop" device for active and passive movement therapy of arms and legs, "Compex/ Chattanooga" electrical stimulator).
