On 27 May, a strategic technical meeting was held in Udine within the framework of the DAIRY+ project between the two co-leading partners of the 1.1 activity FAB FVG and PRC, together with the Production Quality Enhancement Service of the Central Directorate for Agrifood, Forestry and Fisheries Resources of the Autonomous Region of Friuli Venezia Giulia (associated partner).
The meeting focused on discussing a methodological approach to map the cross-border dairy value chain with particular attention to small-scale operators.
The participants discussed the data necessary for the mapping (key players, available volumes, flows, and characteristics of dairy products and related by-products) for an optimal understanding of the sector's specificities on both sides of the border. Potential accessible sources of information were also assessed to ensure coordinated and comparable data collection between all the territories involved.
The meeting highlighted the need to develop a shared engagement strategy to set up a cross-border stakeholder group to facilitate information exchange and collaboration in the Programme area.
As the project progresses, stakeholders plan to harness this knowledge to support the sustainable and circular development of the dairy value chain.
