On July 16, 2024, the first official Steering Committee meeting of the project was held at the University of Ljubljana, Slovenia. Organized by the Department of Animal Science at the Faculty of Biotechnology, the event brought together representatives from all project partners and began with a warm welcome by PP2 coordinator prof. Dušan Terčič at the historic "Viteška dvorana" in Domžale.
In the morning, participants visited the University's indoor Recirculating Aquaculture System (RAS), guided by researchers dr. Nejc Bravničar e Gašper Renko, where they discussed technical aspects related to Work Packages 1 (WP1) and 2 (WP2). Special attention was given to compliance with environmental management protocols, including the use of protective gear.
In the afternoon, the team visited Vodomec’s fish farm in Zalog, a key partner of the University of Ljubljana. This continuous-flow trout farm is considered one of the leading examples of trout farming in Slovenia.
The day concluded with the Steering Committee meeting, held both in person and online. Key topics included the confirmation of the management structure, approval of the work plan, and updates on WP2 and WP3 were presented by the project coordinator dr. Gloriana Cardinaletti and by prof. Roberto Pastres, PP3 coordinator. Finally, Dr. Patricija Muzlovic, external consultant and Dr. Mitja Kadoič, Communication Manager and coordinator of PP4, presented the first draft of the plan for communication and promotion activities.
