For the Interreg VI-A Italy-Slovenia 2021-2027 Programme the creation of synergies represents one of the main initiatives within its capitalisation activities. In July 2024, a monitoring activity was launched to map the synergies established among the projects funded by the Programme, with the aim of identifying joint actions and results arising from their collaboration.
Among the 57 projects funded by the Programme in 2024, 30 have started collaborations in different fields, such as the joint organisation of events, the sharing and dissemination of results and good practices, and the co‑production of outputs by projects with similar activities. These collaborations are not limited to projects funded by the Interreg Italy-Slovenia Programme: some have begun working together with projects financed by other European programmes. One of the examples is the synergy deriving from involving the projects WalkOfPeace+, Beyond WalkOfPeace and the GOV4PEACE project (the latter funded by the Interreg Central Europe Programme), which is aimed at submitting a joint application for the recognition of the “Walk of Peace Route” as a Cultural Route of the Council of Europe.
Of particular significance is the cooperation among the three strategic projects (hereinafter referred to as OSIs) ADRIONCYCLETOUR, Kras‑Carso II and POSEIDONE, which have been working together since 2023 on the development of the tourism product #movingITA‑SLOwly, launched during the Italy-SIovenia Programme workshop held in Brussels as part of the European Week of Regions and Cities. In 2024, this collaboration expanded further: in addition to involving other projects from the Interreg Italy-Slovenia Programme, a partnership with the Interreg Italy-Croatia Programme was also launched. This pilot collaboration between the two Interreg programmes led to the creation of #CROssingITA‑SLOwly, aimed at promoting the development of sustainable tourism (see the Success stories section).
