The negotiation on the future of Interreg (see draft Regulation COM(2025) 552) foresees a single 'Interreg Plan' serving as a framework for all strands of European Territorial Cooperation: cross-border, transnational, Interregional and outermost regions, taking out European Territorial Cooperation from National and Regional Partnership Plans (NRP) (see draft Regulation COM(2025) 565).
The European Commission has proposed a budget for the whole Interreg of €1.062,2 billion (higher than the 2021-2027 period), advocating for geographical continuity of programmes and continuity of management structures as well as for the co-financing rate.
The Interreg Plan will be structured into “geographical chapters”, each corresponding to a cooperation area, with specific objectives, strategies and governance.
Territorial stakeholder consultation
The Task Force begins its exchange work, by consulting the key stakeholders from the Programme area on the main strategic orientations for the future.
