Although we were still staring at the sky a bit apprehensively on Tuesday morning and secretly looking towards the umbrellas, the sun finally shone and made the participants of the Walk of Peace event of the Accommodation Providers' Club feel even better.
In this context, the Posoški razvojni center, in cooperation with the Ustanova "Fundacija Poti miru v Posočju", presented to tourism providers and representatives of tourism organisations the activities we are currently carrying out in the field of cultural tourism development. At the same time, the event was an opportunity to introduce and invite all interested parties to the so-called "Walk of Peace Club".
After a warm welcome with coffee and croissants, we were welcomed by the Foundation's Director Maša Klavora, and then our colleague Vesna Kozar introduced the WAKofPEACE+ project, outlining its objectives and expected results. Next, we had the opportunity to listen to Katja Sivec from the Foundation, who, before presenting the Walk of Peace club of accommodation providers on the Walk of Peace website (see HERE), showed us their tourism product - the 500 km long Walk of Peace from the Alps to the Adriatic, which offers guidance and experiences for hikers, cyclists, families, history enthusiasts and relatives of fallen soldiers, as well as for organised groups. And it is along this route that the offer for its users will be newly built. To conclude the first part, Vesna Valentinčič, owner of the San Martin Agency, spoke about her connection with the Peace Trail and the story of the successful development of outdoor tourism.
Under the leadership of mag. Martin Šolar, Director of the Kobarid Museum, we then watched a projection of the Kobarid breakthrough, which many call a "miracle", on a model in the local collection and thus got an insight into the events of the last days of the cruel war. Under the guidance of our guides from the Museum and the Foundation, Roman Čebokli and Mihael Uršič, we then set off together to Kolovrat, where we had an interesting experience, which we will keep quiet this time - we would not like to spoil the surprise in case you experience the Path of Peace in the company of our guides for yourselves.
The event ended in the spirit of the day's events, as we were served jota with excellent deer sausages at the Jelenov Breg Tourist Farm under Matajur in military mess huts. An interesting and unforgettable experience, worth experiencing, to which we cordially invite you.
