Within the framework of the FIRESAFENET project, a meeting was held during the summer months with the aim of presenting and aligning activities under Work Package 1 – Analysis of existing agreements and preparation of an action plan for effective joint cross-border interventions in the event of wildfires.
The meeting was structured into three main sessions:
• Session 1 – Introduction to WP1: overview of objectives, structure of activities A1.1 and A1.2, and expected results;
• Session 2 – Operational plan and timeline for A1.1: detailed presentation of steps, division of tasks among partners, and validation of the implementation plan;
• Session 3 – Next steps: definition of tasks for the summer months, review of coordination tools, and open discussion on implementation.
By November 2025, the goal was to complete Step 1 (review of literature and legislation) and most of Step 2 (preparation of the data collection tool), including the drafting of a structured questionnaire and analytical framework.
Currently, the project is in Step 3 – Data collection (September–October), carried out in cooperation with partners, associated partners, and key stakeholders in the cross-border area. Data collection is being finalized, and activities are gradually shifting towards Step 4 – Data analysis and report drafting, which will take place in November and December 2025 under the coordination of ISIG.
By the end of the year, the first version of the report will be prepared, summarising the strengths and weaknesses of the existing cooperation agreements and serving as the basis for developing the action plan for joint cross-border interventions under activity A1.2.
