At the Ljudska univerza Ajdovščina, as part of the cross-border project Interreg VI-A Italy–Slovenia BEroots – Between Rivers and Lagoons: Artistic Routes, we are developing three digital thematic trails that will offer visitors to the Vipava Valley a unique experience of place through culture, nature, and art.
Each trail is designed for a specific target group and is based on an experiential learning approach. The content includes stories, tasks, quizzes, and audio and video recordings, all accessible through the mobile app Actionbound, which supports interactive and creative exploration of the environment.
Which trails are we developing?
Family Adventure through Vipava is a trail designed for families with children. It encourages shared exploration of Vipava through curious eyes, from the wine cellar to the old castle. Along the way, children complete challenges, draw, sing, and observe nature, discovering the town’s heritage in a playful and creative manner.
Podnanos: Between Stone, Song and Film is an educational trail for primary school students that leads through one of the oldest villages in the Vipava Valley. Pupils discover stone installations by artist Marko Pogačnik, churches, manors, and learn about the Slovenian national anthem and the village’s cinematic past. Cultural heritage comes alive through tasks that connect history, art, and personal experience.
Vipava: Quiet Traces of Great People is a calm, narrative-based trail designed primarily for seniors and culture enthusiasts. It introduces eight remarkable individuals from Vipava: poets, writers, sculptors, composers, singers, and collectors. Their life stories are intertwined with reflective tasks that invite visitors to listen, contemplate, and connect on a personal level.
All three trails will be available in digital format via the Actionbound app. Visitors will engage in activities such as solving tasks and quizzes, taking photos and videos, and completing creative challenges. Learning takes place outdoors, through movement and direct contact with the environment – where knowledge is most naturally anchored in experience.
By developing these digital thematic trails, we aim to promote sustainable and inclusive tourism and learning in public open spaces, while preserving and revitalizing the cultural heritage of the Vipava Valley in a contemporary, engaging, and inclusive way.
The BEroots project is co-financed by the European Union under the Interreg VI-A Italy–Slovenia Programme.
