On September 25, 2025, the fourth partner meeting of the CROSS ALERT project was held on the island of San Servolo in Venice, organized by the project partner Metropolitan City of Venice. The project brings together partners from Italy and Slovenia to improve preparedness and response to natural disasters in cross-border areas.
The meeting provided an opportunity to present the progress and results achieved so far. Highlights include the development of pilot activities, establishment of SOS points in remote areas, the already completed purchase of two all-terrain vehicles for search operations for missing persons, and the development of digital tools and maps to facilitate emergency responders’ access to hard-to-reach locations.
Partners also planned the implementation of upcoming events and workshops to ensure that project activities continue in a coordinated way and achieve the intended objectives. The meeting allowed for the exchange of experiences, coordination of schedules, and determination of approaches for the execution of future pilot activities.
Additionally, results of the development of AI-based tools for forest fire warnings and new layers of unmarked paths were presented, enabling faster and safer access for firefighters and rescue teams.
The CROSS ALERT project is implemented under the Interreg Italy–Slovenia 2021–2027 program and aims to improve the responsiveness of emergency services, increase public safety, and strengthen cross-border cooperation in disaster prevention.
