On Tuesday, March 25, 2025, the event Miroslav Vilhar – Cultural Inspiration for Contemporary Tourism took place at the Notranjska Museum Postojna. The event highlighted the rich legacy of writer, composer, and politician Miroslav Vilhar (1818–1871), and its potential for the development of cultural tourism.
Organized by RRA Zeleni kras in cooperation with the Notranjska Museum Postojna, the event brought together renowned experts in the fields of history, musicology, marketing, and literary heritage: Tine Kaluža, Andrej Rijavec, Polona Zevnik, and Martina Erjavec. The discussion was moderated by Andrej Rijavec, who emphasized the significance of Vilhar’s work and the ongoing relevance of his achievements and values. Participants were introduced to a new website dedicated to Vilhar’s cultural heritage, as well as selected museum artifacts from his collection. Two new tourism products were also presented: a walking tour along the Vilhar Trail, designed to allow flexible interpretation by guides, and a B2B event featuring musical and literary content, aimed at enriching various gatherings and cultural occasions.
Among the museum exhibits presented, special interest was sparked by a letter Vilhar wrote to a friend in 1867, a fragment of the pedestal from a monument erected in his honor in Postojna in 1906 (later destroyed), and the conductor’s baton of his son, Franjo Serafin Vilhar.
On this occasion, it was emphasized that the cultural heritage of Miroslav Vilhar remains a living source of inspiration for contemporary tourism stories—ones that not only preserve the memory of his accomplishments but also contribute to the sustainable development of cultural tourism in the region.
