It’s really with great pleasure that we inform you of receipt by the European Commission of the letter Ares (2025) 6372690 of closure of our Programme Interreg V Italy-Slovenia 2014-2020!
The Interreg V Italy-Slovenia 2014-2020 Programme has achieved brilliant results, thanks to common work, constant commitment and continuous collaboration between the Programme partners, the structures and the project beneficiaries. The results achieved by the projects derive from the consolidation of mature cross-border partnerships able to strengthen the cohesion of the Programme area and to overcoming of obstacles and difficulties for the benefit of the entire community. The communication and publicity activities initiated by Programme Managing Structures were very useful in order to increase public awareness of the added value of the contribution of European Territorial Cooperation and European funds for the benefit of border communities.
It is worth remembering that the Programme 2014-2020 has financed, based on four priority axis, 63 projects and has involved 367 beneficiaries, of which a substantial equal distribution is observed between Italy (190) and Slovenia (177).
The 2014-2020 Programme is important for the cues provided to the current Programme Interreg VI Italy-Slovenia 2021-2027, such as the use of a top-down but participative approach and the capitalization practice, often presented as a good practice for other Interreg programmes around Europe. In this regard, being the two programming periods connected, in the current Programme 24 2014-2020 projects have been capitalized in various fields and sectors.
Furthermore, we would like to emphasize the excellent final Programme financial performance, that exceeded 91 million euros of certified expenditure to the European Commission, the timely closure of the Programme, the absence of irregularities reported to the relevant Authorities and the success of STEP Regulation which ensured the maximization of the use of European funds.
