On Wednesday 10th of September 2025, we organized an online Seminar on methodology for the Identification and Assessment of Ecosystem Services (ES) within the framework of the E-Nat2Care project.
The aim of the seminar was to present the methodology for identifying and assessing ecosystem services, developed in the Nat2Care (2017–2020) project and applied in the cross-border Karst area within the capitalization project E-Nat2Care (2023–2025). The methodology is primarily intended for protected area managers and experts working in nature planning and conservation.
The seminar programme provided insights into:
the theoretical foundations of the methodology (Dr. Francesca Visintin),
a case study from the Karst Natura 2000 area and the Škocjan Caves Biosphere Reserve (Antonella Stravisi, Nina Lončarević),
the development of a training module for professionals to support knowledge transfer and the practical application of the methodology (Alberto Madrassi).
The seminar was held in English and concluded with a discussion in which participants emphasized the importance of ecosystem services for integrated nature management.
