Officially launched in September, the Meds Garden+ capitalisation project aims to expand and upgrade, from an inclusive perspective, the network of Mediterranean gardens created in the previous project, to promote educational tourism by enhancing the green heritage.
In recent months, the 4 partners have been working on planning the calendar of upcoming activities and searching for significant experiences from which to select the destinations of the study visits, which will touch various cross-border territories, and stakeholders to be involved at different times in the project.
The work in recent months has also involved the start of the design of the teaching gardens and the first interventions in some of them.
The structures of the new gardens are being studied, with indications for possible technical solutions suited to the respective contexts and the first "work in progress" drafts of the interventions to be carried out in the Giardino Friul (Fondazione OSF in Pordenone) and in the Giardino Mediterraneo del Chiostro, as well as the selection of some plant species to be included in the MEDS GARDEN didactic gardens manual
The key elements of these first study projects are:
New thematic areas
New educational activities in the gardens
Improved physical accessibility (internal routes)
Opening to various target groups: students, seniors, disadvantaged groups
