Two Events Dedicated to the Natural and Cultural Heritage of the Karst
On the occasion of its 60th anniversary, the Gregor Žiberna Caving Society Divača is organizing two special events that will highlight the rich history of the society and deepen the understanding of the natural and cultural heritage of the Karst world.
Both events are intended for local tourist and cave guides as well as for the wider public wishing to explore the spiritual, geological, and cultural depth of the Mother Karst region.
“With Boris Čok Along the Paths of the Old Faith Traditions in the Divača Karst”
Date: Saturday, October 25, 2025, 9:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m.
Location: Visitor Center above the Divača Cave

Join Boris Čok, guardian of folk traditions and expert on the old faith heritage of the Karst, on a journey along the paths of our ancestors.
The event combines a lecture, a guided walk to natural ritual sites, and a pre-premiere screening of the documentary film “Temples – The Sacred Underground of the Karst.”

The lecture and walk will be interpreted into Italian.

Please wear appropriate hiking footwear.
Admission is free, and a Karst-style snack will be provided.
In case of rain, the walk will be cancelled. Instead, documentary films on the old faith heritage of the Divača Karst will be shown in the visitor center.
“On Freud’s Visit to Divača Cave and the Škocjan Caves”
Date: November 2025 (exact date to be announced later)
In the second part of the celebration, philosopher and thinker Mladen Dolar will lead a reflection on Freud’s visit to the Divača Cave and the Škocjan Caves — an encounter of nature, science, and the symbolic world of the underground.
The event will open the door to understanding the Karst world as a place of inspiration that has, throughout history, shaped the intellectual and artistic currents of European culture.
Interpretation into Italian will be provided.
