From 21 to 23 May 2026, Nova Gorica will become the focal point for civil protection and disaster management in Slovenia. The Bogataj Protection and Rescue Days are Slovenia's largest biennial event dedicated to protection against disasters of natural origin and other emergencies, organised by the Administration of the Republic of Slovenia for Civil Protection and Disaster Relief (URSZR). Each edition is held in a different Slovenian town and organised in cooperation with the host municipality.

For three days, the city will bring together civil protection units, fire brigades, rescue teams, the police, the Slovenian Armed Forces, volunteers, non-governmental organisations, and companies operating in the field of protection and rescue. Visitors will be able to attend static and dynamic demonstrations of emergency response procedures, explore equipment used in the field, and take part in accompanying activities. The event is a unique opportunity to understand how the protection and rescue system operates in the face of disasters of natural origin, and to promote the exchange of experiences and best practices among professionals.

The CONCORDIA project (Interreg VI-A Italy-Slovenia 2021–2027) will participate as an official guest through project partner PP2 – Agencija Republike Slovenije za okolje (ARSO), with a dedicated stand. It will be an opportunity to present to the public and sector professionals the results of cross-border cooperation for the prevention and management of seismic and landslide risks in the Italy-Slovenia area.
