FRIDAY, MAY 12th

19:00 - Discussion on caving in the Karst region over time - seminar with Jaka Jakofčič, Marjan Olenik, Jože Terčon in Špela Prunk

Caving has a long and rich history in the Karst. Have you ever thought, when you poured yourself a glass of water from the tap, that it is thanks to the cavers of Sežana that the Carpathians of Cracow have a supply of water of good quality and sufficient quantity? Perhaps you know that the River Rijeka flows right by Sežana? An interesting discussion evening was held with Jaka Jakofčič, Marjan Olenik, Jože Terčon and Špela Prunk, where the main arguments where cave exploration, achievements, equipment and the role of the Society in the past and today. A wonderful chat between different generations, aimed at preserving history, with a focus on guiding the younger generations of cavers into the field. The evening was moderated by Rosana Cerkvenik.

The seminar was held as part of the events organized to mark the 390th anniversary of the start of tourist activity in Vilenica and the 60th anniversary of the reopening of the cave. For the full program download the IT-SI attachment:
