On Tuesday, 19 May 2026, the scientific conference Forest and Wood: The Future of the Bioeconomy will be held in the Great Hall of the Slovenian Forestry Institute (Večna pot 2, Ljubljana). The event traditionally brings together researchers, professionals, and decision-makers from forestry, wood science, and the broader bioeconomy.

The conference serves as an important platform for exchanging scientific knowledge, developing new research ideas, and strengthening cooperation among institutions. Special emphasis will be placed on the role of forests and wood in the transition to a climate-neutral society, the development of a circular bioeconomy, and the challenges related to biodiversity, sustainable resource use, and societal resilience.

The event is supported by the WoodInnovate project, which promotes cross-border cooperation, innovation, and knowledge transfer in wood, the circular economy, and sustainable management of natural resources. The involvement of the project highlights the importance of scientific and research collaboration in supporting the development of the bioeconomy in the cross-border area.

Special attention will again be given to early-career researchers at the beginning of their research careers, as the event provides them with an opportunity to present their results to a wider professional audience.

Call for Abstracts:

Researchers are invited to submit extended abstracts of their contributions by 25 April 2026 for presentation at the conference.
