Tolmezzo, Italy June 13 - 15, 2025
Thanks to the DANTE project, the literary festival Tolmezzo Book Trails (Italian Tolmezzo Vie dei Libri) is becoming a cross-border event. The festival incorporates themes from the DANTE project, which is co-funded by the European Union through the Interreg Italy–Slovenia 2021–2027 Programme.
This year, the connection with the DANTE project—named after Dante Alighieri, the father of the Italian language—adds a cross-cultural dimension to the festival. The goal is to encourage exchange between Italian and Slovenian participants, respecting national traditions while promoting better communication and mutual understanding. Dante’s interest in everyday spoken languages and his focus on high-quality literature provide a framework for exploring the linguistic and literary life of the two neighbouring countries. Slovenian authors will share their work, while Italian participants will focus on poetry and regional language use.
Now in its third year, Tolmezzo Book Trails continues to offer a varied and inclusive program and adds new content. As in previous years, the festival combines local culture with stories and experiences from the broader literary world. The event also encourages participation, collaboration, and community engagement. The program includes exhibitions, guided walks, music, craft workshops, and opportunities to work with schools and community organizations. Taking place just before the summer solstice, Tolmezzo Book Trails offers a chance to spend time together during the longest days of the year, united by a shared interest in books and cross-cultural dialogue.
