Second Workshop of the SANITAS Project
The second workshop of the SANITAS project continues the discussion initiated during the first meeting, which focused on identifying key challenges in cross-border emergency healthcare management between Italy and Slovenia.
The first workshop highlighted several critical issues affecting coordinated emergency response, including differences in public warning systems, difficulties in communication between operational centres in both countries, and the lack of clear legal procedures and agreements for cross-border rescue operations and patient transport. Additional challenges include insurance coverage, recognition of professional qualifications, and interoperability of health information systems.
Further concerns relate to the operational management of emergency interventions under climate-related conditions such as heatwaves and wildfires, which may also impact the continuity of healthcare services and essential infrastructure.
The second workshop will focus on further analysis and validation of these issues, with the aim of identifying possible operational solutions and priority areas for action. Participants will work on defining concrete measures to improve cross-border coordination and strengthen cooperation between the Italian and Slovenian healthcare systems.
The meeting represents another step towards a more integrated, efficient, and resilient emergency response system in the cross-border area.
